I’m having a straightforward day-surgery procedure and the clinic requires that a caregiver be on-site, even though I won’t actually need assistance. What I need is simply a reliable person to check in with me at arrival, list their name as my caregiver, and remain in the clinic’s waiting area for the duration—roughly two to four hours.
No medical knowledge or physical help is expected. You’re welcome to read, scroll on your phone, or just sit quietly; the only stipulation is that you stay in the waiting room so staff can locate you if they call my name.
