SolidWorks Model & STAR-CCM+ Simulation
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I have a mechanical part that first needs to be built as a clean, fully-constrained 3D model in SolidWorks, and then analysed in STAR-CCM+. The core of the job is taking my concept from CAD through to a validated simulation so I can review performance data and make design decisions with confidence.
Here is what I need done:
1. Create the SolidWorks model
• Parametric features and clear feature tree so I can update dimensions later
• Correct material assignment (I will share the grade once we start)
• Native .SLDPRT file and a neutral format export (.STEP)
2. Transfer to STAR-CCM+ and run the study
• Prepare the geometry, apply appropriate meshing controls, and define the physics models needed for a typical structural/thermal load case (I’ll confirm exact loads and boundary conditions)
• Run the solver, monitor residuals, and iterate until convergence
• Provide screenshots of setup, plots of key variables, and a short commentary on the results
Acceptance criteria
• The SolidWorks file opens without rebuild errors and every dimension is editable
• STAR-CCM+ report includes mesh statistics, solver settings, and at least three clear result visuals (e.g., stress contour, displacement plot, temperature field)
• All final files are delivered in a single organised folder: CAD, simulation file, and PDF summary
If you have handled part‐level projects that move directly from SolidWorks into STAR-CCM+ before, I’d love to see an example screenshot or brief description of one.
