Maintain and modify big .NET with Silverlight project

I have a project made almost 15 years ago where the original developer is no longer working with us where I want to do some improvements but for this first project I would want to limit it to the following small modification - find the lines of code where the program reads a USB random number generator and replace it with software generated random number - if this works out well you have lots of follow up projects on this software
