5W Class-AB Amp PCB Design

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I need a compact 5 W class-AB audio amplifier that can run from a single 12 V supply. Your task is to create the full KiCad project—clean schematic, well-routed PCB, and every file I’ll need for fabrication.

Functional points
• Inputs: stereo RCA and Snap-on connections as the primary source, plus a small headphone-out stage.
• Connectors: board-mount snap-on terminals for power, speakers, and signal lines. Choose the pin counts (2-, 3-, or 4-pin) that best fit the layout; neat wiring and strain relief matter more than the exact style.
• Output power: 5 W into 8 Ω per channel (or the closest practical figure from a 12 V rail).
• Straightforward class-AB topology using readily available components.

Deliverables
1. Complete KiCad project folder (schematic, PCB, custom libraries).
2. Annotated PDF schematic and BOM.
3. Gerber and drill files, plus pick-and-place data.
4. Short design note covering gain structure, thermal path, and how the headphone driver is isolated or muted when speakers are active.

Acceptance criteria
• Opens with no errors in the current stable KiCad release.
• ERC/DRC clean.
• Clear silkscreen labels on every connector and test point.
Working prototype
• Compact footprint—ideally under 70 × 70 mm—to keep enclosure costs down.
