Shopify to Shopify Data Migration
Budget: ₹12,500 – ₹37,500 INR
Task: Data Migration — Shopify to Shopify (New Website Launch)
Objective
Migrate all essential business data — customers, products, and orders — from the old Shopify store to the new Shopify store while maintaining data integrity, order history, and product relationships.
Scope of Work
- Customer Data Migration
- Export all customer data (names, emails, contact numbers, order history, and addresses) from the old Shopify store.
- Clean and format the data for import into the new Shopify store using Matrixify (Excelify) or Shopify’s native CSV import.
- Validate duplicate entries and ensure unique customer IDs are preserved or properly re-mapped.
- Confirm all customer tags, segments, and marketing preferences are carried forward.
Product Mapping & Migration
- Export all existing products, including variants, SKUs, collections, and metafields.
- Create a product mapping sheet that pairs old product handles/SKUs with new product handles/SKUs.
Example:
Old Product Title Old Handle New Product Title New Handle
Blue Denim Shirt blue-denim Classic Denim Shirt denim-classic
- Migrate product images, inventory levels, and pricing.
- Validate product URLs, collections, and categories post-import.
- Test redirect rules to ensure old product URLs point to their new counterparts (301 redirects).
Order Data Migration
- Export all order data from the old Shopify store (Order ID, Customer ID, Product SKUs, Date, Payment, and Fulfilment Status).
- Map order data to the new store’s product and customer IDs (using the product mapping sheet).
- Import order history using Matrixify or API-based migration.
- Verify order records for accuracy and payment references.
Testing & Validation
- Run end-to-end testing:
- Verify migrated customers can log in.
- Ensure product pages display correct information.
- Confirm old order history is correctly visible in customer accounts.
- Check URLs and redirects.
- Generate reports comparing totals (number of products, customers, and orders) between old and new stores.
Post-Migration
- Disable checkout or set a maintenance notice on the old store after successful migration.
- Redirect old store URLs to the new store using 301 redirects.
- Backup both stores for archival purposes.
