Job Description:
The Role
Shopify headless technical lead should have a strong grasp of headless e-commerce architecture, which involves leveraging APIs to separate front-end presentation from the back-end system, allowing for increased flexibility. They should be proficient in Shopify's Storefront API and GraphQL queries to enable custom front-end experiences. The candidate should be well-versed in modern front-end technologies like JavaScript, React, and Vue.js to optimize the customer-facing experience. This role also requires expertise in integrating third-party services for payment processing, content management, and more, while considering scalability and performance to ensure a responsive and robust headless Shopify solution. Additionally, the ideal candidate for this role should be proficient in back-end programming languages and frameworks like Node.js, Ruby on Rails, or PHP, enabling effective management of server-side data and business logic. They should also possess API development skills to facilitate seamless communication between the front-end, third-party services, databases, and Shopify's core functionalities. Additionally, expertise in database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases), monitoring, troubleshooting, collaboration with front-end teams, and knowledge of version control systems and CI/CD pipelines are valuable assets in this role.
The Responsibilities
• Thoroughly groom tickets and regularly conduct code reviews and maintain high coding standards to ensure the delivery of clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in Shopify-based projects to ensure smooth project execution.
• Collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to understand and analyze their e-commerce requirements and goals.
• Discover, design and architect custom Shopify solutions that align with client objectives, ensuring scalability, security, and performance, thinking through complex eCommerce systems, including front-end interfaces, backend services, integrations, and data structures.
• Lead site audits and discoveries for clients
• Manage team of 4 developers
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations to resolve complex technical challenges, making architecture and technology stack decisions, based on best practices.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on Shopify and headless eCommerce architecture within the agency, guiding development teams and mentoring junior architects and developers.
Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Solutions Architect for e-commerce teams (large and small)
• Expertise in Shopify, Shopify Plus, and Liquid template language (Shopify Plus certification is a plus)
• Proficiency in web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, API integrations, front-end development, and performance optimization.
• Understanding of headless eCommerce architecture and its implementation using technologies like React, Vue.js, GraphQL, and headless CMS platforms is a plus.
• 5+ years’ experience leading teams small or large
