WooCommerce to Shopify Migration
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
I’m looking for the right person/company for my Woo to Shopify move. It may end up that I don’t even need to migrate anything, I can just start over from scratch on Shopify — but I don’t know anything about it, this is where you come in.
What I need is the ability to chat/call with the same person throughout the process, as I either 1) do the migration myself, 2) have you do it for me, or 3) don’t do it at all.
We won’t know the answers to these questions until we talk, and I’m happy to pay for the right advice and (if needed) hands-on assistance.
A bit about my website:—
It’s a WP site built 2017, with low sales until 2020 when it blew up and did $120k. However sales dropped to $23k in 2021 because of health issues. I have a healthy growing 45k Facebook following, moving to Shopify will allow me to expand my designs and products hugely, and my customers want this.
So I have 5-years of Woo history — customers, orders and products. The products are all POD, all fulfilled by Printful and Gooten. Some of the things IDK and need advising in order to figure out how to proceed:—
* Do I really need to migrate all this, or is it ok (of course simpler and more cost-effective) to just start over on Shopify?
* I will need to re-add all my core products from PODs Printful and Gooten to the new Shopify site, but I’ll quickly be moving most of my products over to POD Printify — which I’m guessing will create new URLs so… how do we handle that? After 5-years I have a certain online presence I don’t want to lose.
* Current hosting is with WP Engine. Do I have to keep that hosting in order to set up redirects from existing URLs to new Shopify site URLs? Or how can we handle redirects? I know nothing about how flexible Shopify is with allowing me to create custom URLs exactly the way I want them. I want you to advise the best way forward here, to maximize my five years of online presence.
* I need to know the “order of events” meaning — where do we start? Do I build out my Shopify store first and re-add all my products from scratch, or do we migrate all my Woo data first and THEN add products?
* I’m currently able to work 1 to 3 hours a day between 12pm and 3pm PST weekdays only, so we’d need to be able to talk within those hours.
Some of my questions above will seem stupid, that’s ok — I’m a brilliant designer and website drag/drop builder, but my technical understanding is crap. This is where I need the right adviser, again — somebody I can actually speak with — because I don’t do well with long back and forth email threads, when a phone call can get to an answer in one tenth of the time. I struggle with dyslexia, and you’ll laugh when you see what I design because my designs are very “copy” based, but I think my disability somehow enhances my creativity.
Hopefully that’s enough of an outline. I’ll disclose the business name once we’ve decided to move forwards. Just one thing… profanity will need to be ok :-)
