Shopify Variant Thumbnail Upgrade

I want to swap the default color-swatch circles on my Shopify product pages for real thumbnail images that represent each variant. The thumbnails should be created automatically from the images already attached to the variant, so I don’t have to manage a separate media library or upload anything extra.

Once a shopper taps or clicks a thumbnail, the main product image needs to switch to that same variant shot. There’s no need to keep the old color dots—this update should fully replace them.

The change should work across my catalog, respect the theme’s styling, and remain responsive on mobile. I’ll give you theme-editor and code access so you can implement, test, and leave the code cleanly commented for future tweaks.
