Sharepoint design/Re skinning and account set up

As a global company, we use Sharpoint to share different marketing and business assets with our distributors, wholesalers, detailers and customers. We currently have the default Microsoft design and would like to have this designed in corporate brand colours and made more visually appealing.
At the same time we would like to better organise the main landing page to highlight important areas - for example - Recently uploaded files, critical updates etc, news etc.
We would also want to set up Sharepoint so that each customer would have an account that will allow us the manage access. Currently we just share links which allow access and have no expiry date.
