Custom Theatrical Garments: Freelance Sewist Required

Job ID: 40048292

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

Job Posting: Freelance Sewist for Custom Theatrical Garments (One-Off Pieces)

I’m looking for a reliable, skilled sewist who can help with individual costume pieces for theatrical productions. I’m not looking for mass production — just one garment at a time, built with clean construction and good attention to detail.

What I Need

Strong general sewing skills

Ability to follow reference photos or sketches

Comfortable making garments with shaping, structure, or multiple pieces

Able to handle occasional period-inspired silhouettes (Victorian skirts, tailored jackets, 1920s dresses, etc.)

Good communication and steady progress updates

Able to ship completed garments to the United States

Types of Projects

Depending on the show, projects may include:

Blouses, skirts, vests

Jackets, bodices, simple tailoring

Dresses or two-piece looks with some shaping

Period-inspired pieces (not museum-accurate — just theatrical versions)

Occasional specialty costume pieces

Nothing is couture-level — just solid, clean, stage-ready construction that holds up to rehearsals and performances.

How We’ll Work Together

I send reference images, measurements, fabric notes

You confirm whether the project fits your skill level

We agree on pricing and timeframe

You send progress photos

Ship when the garment is finished

Ideal Fit

A sewist with good garment-making experience

Comfortable with light pattern drafting or adjusting existing patterns

Can complete pieces on a reasonable timeline

Looking for ongoing but flexible work

Overseas or domestic — I’m open to both as long as communication and shipping are reliable
