Serial Protocol Analysys

I have an intruder alarm that I would like to integrate with home assistant. There is a serial port on this which allows access using propietry software over a 2400 baud connection. I am looking for someone with knowledge of serial connections to provide guidance/insight on how to replicate this protocol.

I am not looking for a turnkey solution just and insight as to the communtication status.

I have the propeitry software and can provide serial monitor logs of the communications.
