SEO for new web site

My website is brand new. I love it, but it's not coming up in Google searches. It appears to be indexed on Google, since it will come up when I do a site search. But it doesn't with key word searches, even with quote marks with exact phrases. This task should be fairly straightforward: figure out why the site isn't coming up Google searches and make the appropriate adjustments. Please let me know if you're interested.
