Need SEO Expert Court Statement - how manipulation of google suggested terms works
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Hello,
I am dealing with a lawsuit where our competitor manipulated Google's suggested search terms to put their location with our trademarked name. It wasn't there before the first lawsuit they attacked us with to try to put us out of business. Shortly after they agreed not to use our name in that lawsuit, it appeared and took over the search for our name. Instead they got Google to do the dirty work of trademark infringement.
If you start typing University of Metaphysical Sciences, one of the top ten suggested terms that comes up is "university of metaphysical sciences sedona arizona" which looks like the most legitimate term to click on since it has their logo and looks like people found us and that is where we are. We are not in Sedona, we are in California, but they have made it look like we are them.
When you get to the search results page they search engine optimized all their own pages to take over the search and pushed us out of the search. They even took over the right hand side of the page with their site being displayed there as the correct school for that search.
We had no choice but to put a page there called University of Metaphysical Sciences is NOT in Sedona Arizona. They are suing us to take it down because they cannot own the search for our name completely if that is there.
You might want to mention when looking at the results page it is obvious that someone search engine optimized all those sites to be there at the top of Google's search results, or not, whatever you feel comfortable with. We were pushed off the search results for that page, maybe explain how it is something that can be done, to push a competitor off the page with link building.
They haven't been able to push us off this search completely only because we have the words sedona and arizona in our page, and that is the only way we can appear for this search. Please explain how necessary that is for us to appear there. Otherwise we would be gone. We MUST prove that we need the terms sedona and arizona not to disappear completely from a search on our trademarked name. At least explain how without those words in the title of our page or on our page, we would not be able to appear for this search that contains our name.
MANIPULATION OF GOOGLE'S SUGGESTED SEARCH TERMS
We believe they used a black hat technique to manipulate Google's suggested search terms. Basically I was told how it's done is that someone uses a VPN and can appear different places in the world, OR they have users who will do the work for them, and type in this unlikely long tail search term about 30-60 times per month to trick Google's algorithms into thinking that is a search term users are wanting to find. Therefore Google now suggests the term and people click on it. We cannot afford to sue Google to take it down, so we have to live with it and the only way to deal with it and not disappear completely and lose our business to them when people are searching for our name, our page must remain. They have also manipulated
"metaphysical sciences university of sedona"
"sedona college of metaphysics"
"sedona college of metaphysical studies"
"sedona school of metaphysics"
"sedona university of metaphysical sciences."
This shows a pattern of manipulating the suggested search terms on Google. All those search results, they have taken over the front page and that school does not appear there.
WHAT I NEED FROM YOU
What we need is an SEO Expert who is willing to explain how this black hat technique works so the court can understand it and how unlikely it is that users would type that long tail keyword phrase unless it was done on purpose by "someone."
Let me know if you can help. You will not have to appear in court. All we need is a statement about how this black hat technique works. And yes, we have already tried the legal request form to ask Google to stop using it, but Google says users seem to like this term so they're keeping it there.
Blessings! Thank you!
