I recently carried out a large-scale URL change on my site—around 50,000 addresses switched from “_” to “-”—and set up 301 redirects for every one of them. The sitemap was regenerated and resubmitted in Google Search Console right away.
Despite that, Google soon stopped indexing new pages and existing rankings began to slide.
