Based in Southwest Michigan, Lane Automotive has built a strong reputation through consistent growth, innovation, and a commitment to delivering cutting-edge products. Our advanced technological infrastructure and deep industry expertise allow us to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive market.
We are driven by our people, agility, and relentless focus on performance. We foster a dynamic and rewarding environment where ambitious professionals can grow, innovate, and make a real impact.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced SEO Associate Manager to lead execution, manage workflows, and oversee SEO delivery across multiple projects.
This is a hybrid role that combines SEO execution, team leadership, workflow management, quality control, and performance tracking. The focus is especially strong on Local SEO, while still requiring solid hands-on understanding of on-page SEO, basic technical SEO, and link-building execution.
You will act as the bridge between strategy and execution, ensuring SEO work is delivered with consistency, accuracy, and measurable impact. This is not a purely strategic role and not a purely hands-on specialist role. It is designed for someone who can guide a team, keep multiple projects moving, maintain quality standards, remove blockers, and make sure SEO recommendations are implemented properly across content and technical workstreams.
Engagement Details
This is a freelance / contract-based remote role open to global candidates. We are looking for someone interested in long-term collaboration, with an expected workload of 20–40 hours per week depending on project volume, team needs, and delivery scope.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
1. Team Leadership & Workflow Management
You will manage and guide a team of SEO specialists across multiple active workstreams. This includes assigning tasks, balancing workloads, setting priorities, and making sure deliverables are completed at the right standard and on the right timeline.
You will lead regular daily or weekly check-ins, help resolve blockers, and train team members on SOPs, workflow expectations, and quality standards. A key part of this role is keeping execution organized and predictable, especially when multiple projects or SEO priorities are moving at once.
2. Local SEO Execution
Local SEO is a core focus of this role. You will manage and optimize Google Business Profiles, local listings, and citation-related activity, while helping improve visibility for location-based search opportunities.
You will also execute and oversee local on-page SEO, support location-based content optimization, and strengthen internal linking structures that support local discoverability and page relevance. This role requires someone who understands how Local SEO performance is built through structured execution, listing accuracy, content alignment, and ongoing optimization rather than one-time setup alone.
3. SEO Strategy Implementation
You will translate broader SEO strategy into practical, actionable execution plans for the team. This means turning priorities into tasks, timelines, checklists, and delivery expectations that can actually be executed consistently.
You will ensure work aligns with goals, timelines, and quality standards, while maintaining visibility into what is being done, what is falling behind, and where performance or implementation gaps need to be addressed. This role requires strong operational judgment, not just SEO knowledge.
4. Link Building & Optimization
You will help develop and execute backlink strategies designed to improve authority, search visibility, and ranking performance over time. This includes conducting competitor analysis, identifying link opportunities, and making sure off-page SEO work supports broader organic growth priorities.
The role requires someone who understands that link-building should be approached strategically, with attention to relevance, quality, and long-term value rather than just volume alone.
5. Reporting & Performance Tracking
You will track core SEO KPIs across projects, including rankings, traffic, and conversions, and help coordinate, review, and validate monthly reporting.
This includes identifying risks, blockers, performance gaps, and areas where workflows or implementation need to improve. We are looking for someone who can use reporting not just to summarize performance, but to guide better execution decisions and keep the team accountable to meaningful outcomes.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
You will work closely with the content team, design team, and web development team to ensure SEO recommendations are implemented correctly and on time.
This role requires someone who can communicate clearly with non-SEO stakeholders, explain priorities in a practical way, and follow through until recommendations are actually executed. Success depends not just on identifying improvements, but on getting them implemented across different contributors.
Workflow & Working Rhythm
This role follows a clear operating cadence.
Daily, you will assign and review tasks, monitor team output and quality, and resolve blockers that may slow down delivery or implementation.
Weekly, you will conduct team check-ins, review SEO performance, and optimize workflows so the team can execute more efficiently and consistently.
Monthly, you will deliver performance reports, adjust execution plans based on current priorities and results, and improve SOPs or processes where better structure is needed.
Reporting & Deliverables
This role includes both delivery oversight and structured reporting responsibilities.
You will be expected to provide:
Weekly team performance updates
Monthly SEO performance reports covering traffic, rankings, and conversions
KPI tracking dashboards across projects and workflows
Core deliverables include:
SEO execution plans
Team-managed deliverables across Local SEO and related workstreams
Performance reports
Process, workflow, and SOP improvements
This role is expected to improve both SEO output quality and operational delivery quality over time.
How We Measure Success
Success in this role will be measured through a mix of SEO performance and team execution metrics. Key performance indicators include:
Organic traffic growth
Keyword rankings
Conversion performance
Team delivery efficiency
On-time task completion
Strong performance in this role means improving not only organic search results, but also the consistency, speed, and reliability of SEO execution across multiple active projects.
Collaboration
You will work closely with:
SEO Manager / Marketing Lead
SEO specialists
Content team
Developers and designers
This role sits at the center of execution, coordination, and quality control, so strong communication and follow-through are essential.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone with 2+ years of SEO experience and at least 1+ year of experience managing or leading a team.
You should have strong practical expertise in:
Local SEO
On-page SEO
Basic technical SEO
Link building
You should also have experience handling multiple projects or accounts at the same time, along with strong organizational and communication skills. Familiarity with SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Screaming Frog is important for success in this role.
The right person for this position should be comfortable balancing execution detail with team oversight, and should be able to keep SEO work moving with structure, quality, and accountability.
Nice to Have
The following would be valuable, though not required:
Experience with citation tools and directory management
Experience building SOPs and QA processes
Experience managing remote teams
Agency experience
These are especially useful in a role that combines Local SEO execution with workflow leadership and multi-project coordination.
Compensation

Senior-Level Range: Higher rates are available for candidates who can manage full SEO delivery and team performance at a high level
Incentives: Performance-based incentives tied to traffic growth and delivery KPIs
