Drupal SEO Specialist to Resolve Google Search Console Indexing Issues

Job ID: 40001870

Budget: $750 – $1,500 AUD

Project Overview:
We run a Drupal-based online marketplace with over 100,000 dynamic listing pages (e.g., location-specific items). Despite the volume, we're facing severe indexing issues in Google Search Console (GSC), including 71k+ "Crawled - currently not indexed," 43k+ excluded by noindex tags, 41k+ 404 errors, and other redirects/canonical problems. This is preventing our pages from ranking and driving organic traffic.
We're seeking an experienced Drupal SEO specialist to audit, diagnose, and implement fixes to get at least 50k+ pages indexed and ranking for long-tail keywords like "[location] rentals." The goal is to boost E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness), resolve technical blocks, and optimize for the 2025 Google Core Update. This is a one-time project with potential for ongoing maintenance if successful.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

Technical Audit (Week 1):
Review GSC data (we'll provide access) and site structure to identify root causes of errors like "Crawled - not indexed," noindex tags, 404s, redirects, duplicates, and server errors.
Crawl the site using tools like Screaming Frog or Ahrefs to map issues across 100k+ pages.
Check Drupal configurations (e.g., content types, views, modules) for SEO pitfalls.

Implement Drupal-Specific Fixes (Weeks 1–4):
Install/update essential modules: Metatag (for titles, descriptions, canonicals, noindex removal), XML Sitemap (regenerate and submit dynamic sitemaps), Pathauto (clean URLs), Redirect (fix 404s and chains), and Schema.org Metatag (add JSON-LD for Facility/Offer).
Bulk-update nodes to remove accidental noindex tags, add index/follow, and self-reference canonicals. Use Drush scripts or Bulk Operations for scalability.
Optimize site speed: Enable caching, compress images, and improve Core Web Vitals (aim for 90+ mobile score via PageSpeed Insights).
Fix redirect errors, duplicate canonicals, and 5xx/403 issues (e.g., whitelist Googlebot, shorten chains).

Content and On-Page Optimization (Weeks 3–6):
Enhance listing pages for quality: Add unique 300–500 word descriptions, user review sections, photos, and E-E-A-T signals (e.g., link to media mentions, author bio). Avoid repetitive templates—make them helpful (e.g., "Tips in [location]: Rates and Availability").
Differentiate duplicates and prune low-value pages (e.g., expired items).
Add internal linking from homepage/blog to listings; implement pagination with rel=next/prev.

Authority and Local SEO Boost (Weeks 5–6):
Claim/optimize Google Business Profile.
Embed Google Maps and add local schema.
Suggest backlink strategies (e.g., guest posts) and submit to local directories for authority.

Monitoring and Reporting:
Resubmit sitemaps and request indexing for key pages in GSC.
Provide weekly reports on progress (e.g., error reductions, indexed page increases).
Post-project: Handover documentation, scripts, and recommendations for ongoing SEO.

Required Skills and Experience:

5+ years of Drupal SEO expertise (Drupal 10/11 preferred; experience with large-scale sites 100k+ pages).
Proven track record fixing GSC issues (provide case studies or examples of similar projects).
Proficiency in Drupal modules (Metatag, XML Sitemap, Pathauto, Redirect, Drush).
Strong knowledge of 2025 Google algorithms (E-E-A-T, Core Updates, schema markup).
Tools: GSC, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs/SEMrush, PageSpeed Insights.
Bonus: Experience with marketplace SEO (e.g., listings, dynamic content).
Excellent English communication; available for quick calls (Australia timezone preferred).

Deliverables:

Full site audit report with prioritized issues.
Implemented fixes (e.g., module configs, scripts, content updates).
GSC metrics before/after (e.g., 50%+ error reduction, 50k+ new indexed pages).
Training/handover session (1 hour via Zoom).

Timeline and Budget:

Timeline: 6–8 weeks (part-time, 20–30 hours/week). Start ASAP (November/December 2025).
Milestones: 30% after audit, 40% after fixes, 30% after results/validation.
