Security Consultant for IT Environments
Budget: £18 – £36 GBP
I am looking for an experienced Security Consultant to work on an ad hoc or fixed monthly basis to oversee and strengthen multiple IT environments.
The role is focused purely on security, monitoring, hardening, and continuous improvement. This is not general IT support. I need someone who can take ownership of reviewing systems daily, identifying risks, closing security gaps, and ensuring everything remains properly configured and secure.
Systems and Platforms in Scope
• N-able N-central
• Cove Data Protection
• SentinelOne EDR
• Site24x7 monitoring
• Windows Server environments
• Microsoft 365 and Office 365 security
• Routers, firewalls and managed switches
• Patch management systems
• Backup monitoring and recovery testing
Key Responsibilities
• Daily review of dashboards, alerts, and security logs
• Identify vulnerabilities and track remediation
• Validate correct configuration and system hardening
• Review Microsoft 365 sign in logs and security posture
• Audit firewall rules and network configurations
• Ensure patch compliance across servers and endpoints
• Verify backup health and perform periodic restore tests
• Maintain a structured security log and risk register
• Provide clear written reports and improvement recommendations
• Conduct internal vulnerability assessments and penetration testing where appropriate
Objective
The goal is to ensure:
• Systems remain fully operational and secure
• Security risks are identified early and resolved
• Monitoring tools are correctly configured and optimised
• There are no overlooked alerts or unmanaged vulnerabilities
• Documentation and audit trails are properly maintained
Engagement Model
Open to:
• Ad hoc hourly engagement
• Fixed monthly retainer with defined deliverables and SLAs
