Queer Sci-Fi Screenplay Adaptation
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’ve poured my heart into a 600-plus-page speculative sci-fi novel full of queer identity, razor-sharp political commentary, and a timeless thruple romance. Now I want to see it leap off the page as a feature-length screenplay with the unsettling charm and daring spirit you’d expect from an A24 release.
Here’s the big picture
• Primary goal: translate the entire novel into a polished movie script.
• Secondary dream: if we click, expand selected arcs into an absurdist-horror-comedy LGBTQ+ graphic-novel series.
Why this project matters
The story centers queer bodies, critiques power, and shows love that refuses tidy boxes. I’m looking for a collaborator who is themselves queer-identified, politically astute, and excited to push the visual and narrative envelope.
Collaboration model
Upfront funds are limited (about $1.5 K total), so I’m proposing a partnership: a modest initial payment to get us started, milestone splits tied to draft deliveries, and a shared stake in downstream options—festivals, studios, or indie presses. I’m open to structuring this transparently so both of us feel protected and motivated.
What you’d bring
• Screenwriting chops: proven feature script samples, especially genre-bending or queer narratives.
• A cinematic eye that can balance spectacle with intimate character moments.
• Comfort weaving political subtext into dialogue and action without losing pacing.
• (If the graphic route excites you) a flair for absurdist horror-comedy visuals and the ability to guide or execute panel layouts.
What I’ll provide
Complete manuscript, world-building bible, character breakdowns, and ongoing feedback. You’ll never have to guess what happens next; you’ll have full access to the universe.
Next steps
Send over a short note about why this resonates with you, a relevant writing sample or two, and any thoughts on collaboration terms. Let’s make something visually stunning—and defiantly queer—together.
