Build Custom Middlewares for Scrapy

I'm looking to build a downloader middleware for scrapy and need a bit of help. I'm familiar with scrapy and have successfully used it for years but never cracked the code with middlewares. I can explain full detail of my use case to interested applicants. It will involve some (already working) code that uses python-playwright so experience with that would be a bonus.
