Find a deleted picture

My grandson has been requested by his lawyer to try to find an indecent picture sent to him by an exgirlfriend. The picture was sent to him two years ago when he was fifteen years old. His mother insisted that he delete the picture and thus it is not available for the legal process that he is enduring. Can this picture be found and presented to his lawyer.
