Scala Based Chess Club Website New Features: Live Chess Analysis

Job ID: 38256912

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

As a freelance teacher managing a Scala coded chess club website, I'm seeking a talented Scala programmer to help me incorporate a new feature into the site. You'll be working with the open-source code from Lichess org. I am in the process of building a reward system that would recognize that a student is showing an improvement in their chess skills even if they do not win the game. This project is the first step to creating that system with several more opportunities for jobs upon completion.

Requirements:
- Strong Scala programming skills
- Experience with web development, especially with website feature incorporation
- Familiarity with Lichess org codebase would be a plus, although not necessary

The Project

Currently all analysis of a chess game via the Stockfish chess engine happens at the conclusion of each game. I would like to have this analysis take place while the game is in progress with the goal of each game being fully analyzed within 15-30 seconds after the game concludes. My two previous developers have done quite a bit of work researching how this move by move analysis can take place. I will be able to share the data they compiled which should help with implementation. The final component of this project will be using the analysis data to recognize common chess tactics such as forks, skewers, discovered checks etc. The puzzle generation system on Lichess is already capable of this so it should be a matter of implementing a solution that can quickly check the analysis for these tactics.

If you are interested I am happy to share my bitbucket repo so you can dig into the site more deeply. I look forward to working with you!
