SAP Ariba Guided Buying – External OCI Catalog Integration

SUMMARY
We are operating an external B2B product search engine and are looking for an experienced SAP Ariba expert to support a proof-of-concept (PoC) integration using External Search via OCI Catalogs.
The objective is to allow users of SAP Ariba Guided Buying to initiate a product search. The request should be routed to our external platform, which returns real-time search results in standard OCI format – including product details, price, vendor, and SKU.
USE CASE
A user in SAP Ariba Guided Buying enters a search term.
Ariba triggers an OCI search request to our platform (e.g., https://aribatest.guidedbuying.com/search?search=$KEYWORD) and receives a real-time response in OCI format with relevant search results.
The user selects an item in the Ariba UI, which then initiates a PunchOut session to the appropriate supplier catalog.
This is a common customer request, as it allows using Ariba with real-time external catalogs without changing existing procurement workflows.
TASK OBJECTIVE
- Evaluate and document the technical configuration steps in SAP Ariba Guided Buying to support External Search Integration via OCI Catalogs
- Support our team in testing the OCI request/response flow
- Validate the return structure for fields such as:
* NEW_ITEM-DESCRIPTION
* NEW_ITEM-PRICE
* NEW_ITEM-VENDOR
* NEW_ITEM-MATNR / SKU
- Enable and verify the PunchOut session based on the selected item
-Optionally: provide feedback or direction on future integration via Procurement Content API
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong experience with SAP Ariba Guided Buying and OCI/PunchOut integration
- Familiarity with cXML, Ariba Supplier Network, and catalog return field mappings
- Understanding of external catalog flows and URL-based parameter handling
- Ability to work hands-on with Ariba test or sandbox environments
- Excellent written communication skills for clear documentation
DELIVERABLES
A clear technical documentation (PDF, Markdown, or plain text), including:
- Steps to configure the external OCI catalog in SAP Ariba
- OCI request structure and URL parameters
- Expected return format and field mappings
- Prerequisites or limitations in Ariba (e.g., supplier configuration, catalog settings)
- Steps to configure the PunchOut session triggered from OCI search results
Participation in up to 2 short coordination calls (kickoff and wrap-up)
