Salesforce Flow Approval Automation -- 2
Budget: $30 – $250 CAD
Project Type: Salesforce Flow Development
Work Environment: A Salesforce Developer Sandbox with fake test data only
Deliverables: A fully built, production-ready flow with documentation
⸻
Project Overview
I need an experienced Salesforce Flow Developer to build a record-triggered flow for a discount approval process.
The flow will be triggered when a user creates or updates a discount on an Opportunity Product (OpportunityLineItem).
Instead of using Salesforce’s standard Approval Processes, this flow must create Salesforce Tasks that route to the correct approvers based on discount percentage thresholds.
This must be built in a clean sandbox with test data only — no real account or opportunity data.
⸻
Goal of the Flow
When a discount is applied to an Opportunity Product, the flow should:
1. Determine the discount percentage
2. Identify the correct approver(s) based on the discount range
3. Auto-create a Task for each required approver
4. Populate the task with the required details
5. Prevent duplicates (i.e., don’t create multiple tasks for the same record/approval)
6. Allow for future expansion for “multi-stage approval” logic
⸻
Discount Approval Logic (Must Be Built Into the Flow)
If Discount ≤ 10%
• Create a Task assigned to Sales Manager
If Discount > 10% and ≤ 30%
• Create a Task assigned to:
• Sales Manager
• CRO
If Discount > 30%
• Create a Task assigned to:
• Sales Manager
• CRO
• CEO
The emails/user IDs will be placeholder values. I will update them later.
⸻
Technical Requirements
1. Trigger
• Object: OpportunityLineItem
• Trigger Type: When record is created or updated
• Entry Condition: Discount field > 0
2. What the Flow Must Do
• Pull the Opportunity Product record
• Read the Discount% field
• Evaluate the discount tier
• Assign approver(s) based on a Decision element
• Create 1+ Tasks with:
• Subject (placeholder text)
• Description (placeholder)
• Priority
• Related To: Opportunity
• Assigned To: placeholder User Id
• Status: Not Started
3. Variables Needed
• varRecordId (input)
• Text variables for placeholder approver User IDs
• Discount percent variable
• Boolean to prevent duplicate task creation
4. Best Practices Required
• Use Get Records elements efficiently
• Use Decision elements for % ranges
• No hardcoding of my org’s actual IDs (you may use placeholder IDs)
• Fully scalable logic
• Error handling + fault paths
• Subflow-ready design (optional)
⸻
Deliverables
1. The fully working flow inside the sandbox
2. A short setup guide (text or video) explaining:
• Flow structure
• Where to edit approver emails/User IDs
• How to modify discount tiers
3. Export of the flow (metadata package)
4. Test demonstration to show that:
• Each discount tier routes correctly
• Tasks are created properly
• No duplicates occur
⸻
Skills Required
• Strong Salesforce Flow experience (record-triggered flows)
• Experience building multi-step approval logic
• Familiar with OpportunityLineItem object
• Understanding of task automation within flows
• Ability to build scalable, clean logic
⸻
Security Instructions
You will work ONLY in a Developer Sandbox with fake test data.
No production access.
No customer or company information will be shared.
