Integration of Salesforce with Access database

I wish to build a UI on Salesforce which will have drop down menus to select from Access database and then create a new id/code using that data filled on the form. This needs to happen real time and requester should get that new id/code in the email. If some data is not available on Access, system should throw an exception.
