Senior Full-Stack Developer Needed to Build a WordPress Management SaaS Platform (like WP-Umbrella)

Job ID: 39667161

Budget: $3,000 – $5,000 USD

We are looking to develop a robust, scalable, and user-friendly Software as a Service (SaaS) platform for managing multiple WordPress websites from a single, centralized dashboard. The project is inspired by the functionality and user experience of wp-umbrella.com. We need to build this entire system from the ground up, including the main web application (the dashboard) and the companion WordPress plugin that communicates with it.

This is a long-term, complex project, and we are seeking a highly experienced individual developer or a professional agency with a proven track record in building similar SaaS applications and WordPress plugins.

Project Goal

The end goal is to create a market-ready platform that allows web agencies, freelancers, and site owners to efficiently monitor, manage, and maintain their portfolio of WordPress sites.

Core Components

The project will be divided into two main components:

The SaaS Dashboard (Main Web Application): This will be the central hub where users log in to manage all their connected WordPress sites.

The WordPress "Connector" Plugin: A lightweight, secure plugin that will be installed on each client's WordPress site to establish a secure connection with the main dashboard.

Detailed Feature Requirements

The platform should include the following core features:

1. Centralized Dashboard

Secure user registration and authentication (with options for social login and 2FA).

Ability for a user to add/remove an unlimited number of WordPress websites.

A main overview screen showing a summary of all connected sites, highlighting any with issues (e.g., updates needed, security warnings, site down).

A clean, intuitive, and responsive UI/UX.

2. One-Click Updates Management

Detect available updates for WordPress core, plugins, and themes across all sites.

Ability to perform updates for a single item, bulk updates for a single site, or bulk updates across all sites with one click.

Track update history and version changes.

3. Automated & On-Demand Backups

Ability to schedule automated daily, weekly, or monthly backups.

Integration with third-party cloud storage (e.g., Amazon S3, Google Drive, Dropbox). The user should be able to connect their own storage account.

One-click manual backup creation.

A simple, one-click restore process from a chosen backup point.

4. Uptime & Performance Monitoring

Regularly check if connected websites are online (Uptime Monitoring).

Send immediate email/dashboard notifications if a site goes down.

Monitor and log key performance metrics (e.g., page load time, Google Core Web Vitals).

Display historical performance data in a simple chart.

5. Security & Health Monitoring

Perform regular security scans to check for vulnerabilities, malware, and file changes.

PHP error monitoring: The connector plugin should capture and send PHP errors to the main dashboard for review.

General WordPress health checks (e.g., database status, PHP version, etc.).

6. Client Reporting

Ability to generate professional, white-label PDF reports for clients.

Reports should be customizable, allowing the user to include/exclude sections (e.g., backups performed, updates made, performance scores, security status).

Schedule automated monthly or weekly report generation and email delivery to specified recipients.

Required Technical Skills & Experience

We are looking for a freelancer/agency with expertise in the following:

Backend: Expert proficiency in a modern backend framework. Our preference is PHP/Laravel, but we are open to proposals using Node.js, Python/Django, or Ruby on Rails.

Frontend: Strong experience with a modern JavaScript framework like Vue.js or React for building a dynamic and responsive single-page application (SPA).

WordPress Development: Deep, expert-level knowledge of WordPress plugin development, including creating custom REST API endpoints, using hooks/actions/filters, and ensuring security best practices.

Database: Proficient with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including database design and optimization.

APIs: Extensive experience in designing, building, and securing REST APIs for communication between the dashboard and the WordPress plugins.

DevOps & Infrastructure: Experience with cloud hosting (AWS, DigitalOcean, or Google Cloud), server management, and CI/CD pipelines is a major plus.

Project Management: Excellent communication skills, fluency in English, and a proactive approach to providing regular updates.

What We Expect in Your Proposal

To be considered, your proposal MUST include the following:

Start your proposal with the phrase: "Project Umbrella Pro" so we know you have read the entire description.

Briefly describe your experience building large-scale SaaS applications.

Provide links to at least two relevant projects from your portfolio. One should ideally be a SaaS platform and one a complex WordPress plugin.

Briefly outline the technical stack you would recommend for this project and why.

Explain, in a few sentences, how you would approach the secure communication between the central dashboard and the individual WordPress sites.

Provide a rough estimate of the timeline and your availability.

We understand this is a large project, and the initial bid is an estimate. We are willing to discuss a detailed scope and agree on milestones and a fair price with the right candidate. We are looking for a long-term partner, not just a one-time contractor.

We look forward to reviewing your proposals!
