SaaS Developer for MSPs Platform
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
We are seeking an experienced SaaS developer to modernize and significantly expand **MSPTerms.com**, an existing web-based platform created specifically for Managed Service Providers (“MSPs”).
MSPTerms.com currently helps MSPs organize, manage, distribute, and obtain acceptance of customer-facing legal and business documents. The next version of the platform will provide a more advanced document-management and workflow environment designed exclusively for MSPs.
This is not a simple website redesign. We are looking for a development partner capable of evaluating an existing application, recommending an appropriate architecture, improving the user experience, and building sophisticated SaaS functionality.
Primary Project Goal
Modernize the existing MSPTerms.com platform into a scalable, secure, and intuitive SaaS application that allows MSPs to:
* Create, edit, assemble, and manage customer documents;
* Obtain legally supportable electronic signatures and acceptance records;
* Manage customer-facing workflows through a secure client portal; and
* Track document versions, activity, acceptance, and related records.
Intended Users
The platform will be used exclusively by Managed Service Providers. Each MSP will have its own secure account and environment through which it can manage its employees, customers, documents, quotes, approvals, and workflows. The platform should be designed as a multi-tenant SaaS application with appropriate separation of customer data.
Core Functionality
1. PDF Editing and Document Assembly
The platform should allow authorized users to:
* Upload existing PDF and document files;
* Create documents from reusable templates;
* Edit designated text, fields, and variables;
* Insert customer-specific information into templates;
* Add fillable fields, initials, signature fields, checkboxes, and dates;
* Generate finalized PDF versions;
* Lock finalized documents against unauthorized changes;
* Maintain prior document versions;
* Download completed documents and document packages; and
* Maintain an audit history showing when documents were created, modified, sent, viewed, accepted, or signed.
The preferred solution should provide a polished document-building experience without requiring the MSP user to possess technical or PDF-editing expertise.
3. MSP Client Portal
Each MSP should have a branded or configurable customer portal.
The portal should allow an MSP’s customer to:
* Review documents awaiting acceptance;
* Electronically sign or accept documents;
* View accepted and completed documents;
* Download copies;
* Review active services and related documents;
* Receive notices or messages;
* Respond to requests;
* Upload requested information or documents; and
* View the status of open onboarding or document workflows.
The portal should be easy to use on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
4. Document and Template Management
The system should include a centralized document library through which MSPs can:
* Store reusable templates;
* Categorize documents;
* Tag and search documents;
* Assign documents to particular services or quote types;
* Control which employees may use or modify templates;
* Publish revised template versions;
* Archive outdated templates;
* Determine which customers received each version;
* Request acceptance of updated documents; and
* Maintain historical records.
5. Dashboard and Reporting
The platform should provide dashboards and reporting for items such as:
* Documents awaiting signature;
* Agreements approaching renewal;
* Recent customer activity;
* Template usage;
* Document versions accepted by each customer; and
* User activity.
Reports should be exportable where appropriate.
6. Administrative Platform Controls
The system should provide platform-level administration functionality for the owner of MSPTerms.com, including:
* MSP account creation and management;
* Subscription plan management;
* Feature access by subscription level;
* User and account activity;
* Storage usage;
* Account suspension and reactivation;
* Administrative access controls;
* System announcements;
* Audit logs;
* Support tools; and
* Platform-wide reporting.
7. Integrations
We are open to recommendations regarding integrations. Potential integrations may include:
* Electronic signature providers;
* Payment processors;
* CRM and PSA platforms commonly used by MSPs;
* Microsoft 365;
* Accounting platforms;
* Email delivery providers;
* Cloud storage providers; and
* Identity and authentication platforms.
Please identify any proposed third-party products, APIs, licensing fees, transaction charges, or usage-based costs in your response.
We prefer not to become unnecessarily dependent on expensive third-party services where equivalent functionality can reasonably be developed or provided through a more cost-effective solution.
8. Security and Technical Expectations
Because the platform will store contracts, customer information, pricing, and acceptance records, security is essential.
The solution should include:
* Secure multi-tenant architecture;
* Encryption in transit and at rest;
* Strong authentication;
* Optional multifactor authentication;
* Role-based permissions;
* Secure password management;
* Audit logging;
* Session management;
* Secure file storage;
* Backup and restoration procedures;

The selected developer will be expected to review the existing MSPTerms.com application and determine:
* Which portions of the current platform can be retained;
* Which portions should be rewritten;
* Whether the existing technology stack is appropriate;
* Whether migration to a new architecture is recommended;
* How existing users and data will be migrated;
* Whether the project should be completed in phases; and
* The risks associated with modifying the current platform.
We are open to either modernizing the existing application or rebuilding significant portions of it if a rebuild is technically and economically justified.
