Ruby Developer needed to add functions to existing website
Budget: £1,500 – £3,000 GBP
Cambridge City Council (http://www.cambridge.gov.uk) is working to respond to a need for cultural and community organisations to be able to access vacant retail units for temporary projects.
To achieve this, we propose to create a toolkit to help the community navigate the process of finding and using temporary space, accompanied by a listings page where property owners/ managers can promote their offering.
The listings will be displayed on the Cambridge Arts Network (http://www.cambridgeartsnetwork.com), the platform has a membership of local arts and cultural providers and already serves as a place to list news, opportunities, projects and more.
The listings would adopt the existing functionality within the platform. Users with profiles can post content direct to the site which populates a newsletter, sent automatically according to user preferences.
Under a new section headed 'Creative Workspace' (working-title), the listings would need to display:
-a summary description of the space on offer
-the location (using post code or area name)
-a longer form narrative description
-the cost
-options for type of space (i.e. retail, multi-use, industrial, office)
-plus options for facilities (i.e. electricity, water, toilets, display facilities)
-access hours
-contact details
-dates available
We would require the listings to be searchable by location, space type, facilities and access hours.
Any new postings to the listings would also need to populate the newsletter content.
Cambridge Arts Network is developed in Ruby, so a developer with this experience would be ideal.
The platform is moderated by the City Council's Arts Development team who would oversee the contract for this development. We are awaiting confirmation of support from the Government's Welcome Back Fund to fund this work. The initial feedback is positive, however we need to seek 3 quotes for work above a value of £2,500.
We welcome queries and quotes from developers who are able to undertake this work within the next 4 months.
Attached is a document that provides further information and context about this addition to the Cambridge Arts Network.
