Migrate Ruby on Rails App from Heroku to AWS (Serverless Preferred) {Ongoing Project}

Job ID: 39616334

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

Are you a Ruby on Rails developer with solid AWS expertise? We’re looking for an experienced freelancer to help migrate our lightweight prototype from Heroku to an efficient AWS environment—ideally using a serverless architecture.

This is more than a basic migration—it’s a chance to help us modernize and simplify an API-driven Rails app into a lean, cost-effective solution.

Project Overview:

Tech Stack: Ruby on Rails, D3.js, C3.js, jQuery, ERB templates (some over 200 lines).

Current Setup: Hosted on Heroku, pulling data live from an open API.

Project Goals:

Migrate to AWS serverless architecture (S3, Lambda, CloudFront, API Gateway).

Convert live API pulls to a static or cached system, reducing dependencies and infrastructure costs.

Ensure smooth database migration, environment setup, and minimal downtime.

What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience migrating Rails applications to AWS, ideally using serverless services.

Familiarity with D3.js, C3.js, jQuery, and complex ERB templates.

Knowledge of static site generation or caching strategies for API-driven content.

Hands-on experience with S3, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, and related AWS services.

Proposal Requirements:

Brief overview of similar projects you’ve handled, especially serverless migrations.

Your initial suggestions or approach for converting the app to a static or cached solution.

Approximate cost estimate (this can be revised after codebase review).

Why Work With Us:

Clear communication and quick decision-making.

Opportunity for ongoing work based on performance and fit.

Looking forward to your proposal and ideas.
