Brief: Dual-Cart Leader–Follower Control Rig

This project involves the design and development of a Dual-Cart Leader–Follower Control Rig to demonstrate fundamental principles of autonomous vehicle coordination and control. Each cart is driven using two rear-mounted continuous rotation servo motors, which provide both propulsion and steering through differential speed control. Three IR sensors are used for line detection and path following.

The leader cart operates at a manually set speed, adjusted using a physical input such as a potentiometer or control knob. Directional control is achieved by varying the relative speeds of the two rear servos.

The follower cart operates autonomously and is equipped with a front-mounted ultrasonic sensor to measure the distance to the leader cart. Using this distance feedback, the follower dynamically adjusts its speed to maintain a safe and predefined separation from the leader while following the same path.

The system demonstrates key concepts such as sensor-based control, leader–follower coordination, differential drive steering, and closed-loop speed regulation, making it suitable as an educational platform for teaching control systems, robotics, and autonomous vehicle fundamentals.
