ABB RobotStudio Tea Packing Simulation
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
Tea Packaging and Palletizing Cell Simulation in ABB RobotStudio
Process Description:
Tea packages are transported on an infeed conveyor in a continuous flow. The packages arrive one after another and are grouped into a 3×2 pattern (6 packages) using two pushers.
- The first three tea packages arrive at the grouping position.
- Pusher 1 moves the packages sideways into the pickup area.
- Pusher 1 returns to its home position.
- The conveyor starts again.
- The next three packages arrive.
- Pusher 1 pushes the second row into the pickup area.
- Pusher 2 compresses both rows together to create a compact 3×2 package arrangement.
- An ABB IRB 1600 robot equipped with a vacuum gripper picks up the grouped tea packages and places them into an open carton.
- The carton is filled in two layers, each containing a 3×2 arrangement of tea packages.
- After the second layer is placed, the carton is considered full.
- Ca
-To simplify the simulation and avoid unnecessary mechanical complexity, the carton sealing process is represented by a virtual operation:
- The open carton model is replaced with a closed carton model.
- The closed carton continues along the conveyor.
- The closed cartons are transported to a palletizing area by IRB460.
The pallet is filled layer by layer until the desired pallet configuration is completed.
Main Components
- ABB IRB 1600 robot (case packing)
- ABB IRB 460 robot (palletizing)
- Vacuum gripper
- Conveyor for tea packages
- Carton conveyor
- Two package grouping pushers
- Carton sealing station (simplified model)
- Pallet
- Objectives
I have cad models.
