Report Writing
Budget: ₹1,000 – ₹2,000 INR
Write a report on one of the following two topics:
1.Current robot safety systems (ISO 10218) rely on safeguarding using physical guards and electro-sensitive protective equipment (ISO 13855 and IEC 61496). Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are currently not used in machine safety as they are not included in the appropriate Stardards, yet. Write a report on the opportunities of ML and AI for machine safety. How can ML/AI be used with current off-the-shelf safety sensors, as well as other sensors (e.g. Lidar, Radar, 3D Tof, Stereovision) to improve machine safety and/or manufacturing efficiencies for Factory of the Future?

2.In the factory of today, safety systems cannot detect what is or isn’t a human, and instead take appropriate safety action when any obstacle is detected. The Factory of the Future will focus on human-centric manufacturing, and is sometimes referred to as Industry 5.0. Write a report on how humans can be “brought into the loop” with digital manufacturing systems. In your report, propose an architecture which can be used for detecting and mapping humans on the manufacturing floor and explain how the different layers (e.g. sensing layer, decision layer, control layer etc…) of the architecture will function. Consider human movement patterns on the manufacturing floor, as well as integration of data with mobile robots for route optimisation.
Please ensure to make reference to relevant safety standards, journal & conference publications, as well as any other literature which helps your case. Referencing style should be Harvard, and aligned to UL's Cite it Right policy.
Reports should be approx. 8 A4 pages in length, including figures, but excluding references/bibliography.
