Roblox Turn-Based Mechanics Programmer

Job ID: 40626566

Budget: $10 – $30 USD

I’m building a turn-based RPG inside Roblox and now need the core game mechanics scripted. My priority is the gameplay loop itself—combat, resource economy, progression, and player-world interactions—so you can focus on solid, reusable code rather than art or UI polish.

Here’s what I’m aiming for:

• Combat System – a queue-based turn structure, skills with cooldowns, status effects, and damage formulas tied to character stats and equipment.
• Resource Management – inventory, currencies, consumables, and generation/sink logic that scales over time.
• Character Progression – XP curves, level-up rewards, talent trees, and data persistence.
• Interactions – NPC dialogue, quest triggers, and contextual actions (e.g., harvesting, trading).

The game already has early environments and placeholder interfaces; your task is to wire everything together in Roblox Studio using Lua, with clean, well-commented modules pushed through Git or a comparable version-control workflow.

Timeline: I have up to a year overall, but I’d like to see a functional combat prototype in the first few months so we have room for iteration and balance passes.

Acceptance criteria
• Seamless, bug-free turn cycle that behaves in multiplayer sessions
• Persistent data stores for inventory and progression
• Clear documentation or in-code comments so future content drops can slot in without rewrites

If you’ve shipped similar Roblox titles—or have robust Lua samples that prove you can deliver these systems—let’s map out milestones and get started.
