Stamped Structural Fireplace Plan
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m preparing a permit package for a 21-foot masonry fireplace that will stand in a residential home here in Maryland. The fireplace footprint is 6' wide by 2' deep and it will taper to 4' wide once it rises above the 10' mark. Because the county requires a Maryland-licensed engineer’s seal, I need a full structural plan set—foundation through chimney—ready for direct submission to the permitting office.
You will be starting from scratch; I don’t have any existing sketches or drafts. The scope therefore includes both the structural layout and the underlying design drawings.
Key points to cover
• Reinforced concrete footing sized for local soil loads, with complete rebar schedule and section cuts.
• Masonry wall schedules and any lintel or bond-beam details necessary for the tapered transition.
• Full chimney details integrated into the stack, including flue liner notes and height compliance with Maryland residential code.
• Applicable load calculations, material call-outs, notes, and all sheets stamped and signed by a Maryland-licensed structural engineer (digital seal is acceptable if the county accepts it).
• Sheet list: cover with code references, plan/elevation views, footing & wall sections, rebar schedules, chimney detail, general notes.
Acceptance criteria
1. Drawings are delivered in PDF ready for permit plus original CAD (DWG or Revit) files.
2. The county intake desk confirms the engineer’s license and seal are valid.
3. Any comments returned by the permitting office that relate to structural adequacy are addressed at no extra cost.
