Rebuild STEP Models into Single-Solid Revit Pipe Fitting Family (.RFA) with Connectors – Revit 2020
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m seeking a long-term working relationship with an experienced Revit content specialist to convert provided STEP models into native Autodesk Revit 2020 Pipe Fitting families (.rfa) suitable for manufacturer-grade BIM use.
The objective is to produce clean, parametric, and tamper-resistant Revit families optimized for inclusion in a professional MEP library.
Milestones will be set up by project and released upon receipt of deliverables.
⸻
Scope of work for first project:
The selected freelancer will:
• Start from the Revit Pipe Fitting family template (not Generic Model).
• Rebuild all geometry natively in Revit — no imported or linked CAD solids.
• Ensure the model is a single, continuous solid with no separable or floating geometry.
• Maintain geometrically accurate dimensions consistent with the original STEP file — all physical features, diameters, lengths, and overall proportions must match.
• Include two properly configured pipe connectors, aligned to the fitting axis, with full compatibility to standard ¾-inch CPVC piping systems (used in fire protection applications). Connectors must align correctly and connect natively to Revit pipe types without modification.
• Populate all required Identity Data parameters and metadata as specified.
• Ensure the family passes tamper-resistance and flex tests, confirming no geometry separation or unintended movement during use.
• Deliver two configuration variants of the same model.
See attachments for visual representation of the two variants.
⸻
Deliverables
• Two .rfa files (Revit 2020)
• .rvt test file demonstrating proper connectivity
• Screenshots confirming connector setup, metadata, and single-solid validation
⸻
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
• Proven experience developing Revit manufacturer content, particularly pipe fittings or MEP system components.
• Strong understanding of Revit connector configuration, system classification, and family constraints.
• Familiarity with standard pipe connection sizing for ¾-inch thermoplastic or CPVC-equivalent piping systems.
⸻
Submission
Please include:
• Examples of your Revit family creation work (preferably pipe fittings or mechanical components).
• A brief note on your approach to ensuring clean geometry and connector reliability.
• Your fixed quote. The scope and deliverables are clearly documented. Only fixed, all-inclusive quotes will be accepted. Please review the scope carefully before bidding — follow-up quote revisions or requests for additional payment after award will not be considered.
