Houston Detached Structure Engineering Plans
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
I’m adding a detached garage to my home inside the City of Houston and need complete structural + civil engineering support. Architectural elevations and electrical layout already complete.
Scope
The project covers a new ground-level, wood-frame detached garage that must tie into the existing driveway and drainage and meet all City of Houston codes and wind-storm requirements (140 mph, Exposure B). I’ll rely on you to produce sealed drawings, all supporting calculations, and potentially also guide me through the city’s electronic permitting portal until the permit is issued.
Key Deliverables
• Signed and sealed architectural/structural set: foundation, framing, roof, connection details, wind bracing, and shear wall schedule
• Civil site plan: grading, drainage, slab elevation, and utility clearances that satisfy Houston flood and detention criteria
• Structural calculations and wind load analysis compliant with IRC 2021 + Houston amendments
• Responses to plan-checker RFIs and up to two revision cycles
• Step-by-step assistance uploading and tracking the permit package in the Houston iPermits system (optional)
Please highlight recent Houston residential projects you’ve stamped, your preferred software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, RISA), and your estimated turnaround for the initial submittal.
