Commercial Crane-Lifted Structure Design
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
I have a concept for a suspended, crane-lifted steel structure that will serve a commercial function. The preliminary sketches outline overall geometry and intended load paths, but I now need a licensed structural engineer to turn those ideas into a fully engineered solution that a fabricator and rigging crew can trust.
Scope
• Validate my concept against current codes and safety factors for a crane-supported installation.
• Select the most appropriate steel grade and section sizes, then perform member, connection, and fatigue checks.
• Produce fabrication drawings, bolt/weld schedules, and an erection/routing plan suitable for the site team and crane operator.
• Supply stamped calculation packages generated in software such as STAAD, SAP2000, or equivalent, with clear commentary that a third-party checker can follow.
Deliverables (PDF + native files)
1. Structural analysis report with load cases, factors of safety, and deflection limits.
2. Detailed GA and shop drawings in DWG/DXF plus a coordinated 3D model (Tekla/Revit preferred).
3. Connection and lifting-point verification sheets.
4. Brief method statement for installation and subsequent inspections.
Acceptance
The design must satisfy the relevant commercial building code, meet the crane manufacturer’s allowable load charts, and pass an external peer review without major revision.
