Barndominium Post-Frame Engineering
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m planning a single-family barndominium and need a qualified post-frame engineer to check load calculations for my area. The structure is a residential single family home, and already has a frost wall foundation poured. Please ensure construction methods satisfy current residential building codes and typical lender requirements.
Scope of work
• Structural layout and member sizing for the full post-frame shell (columns, trusses, girts, purlins, diaphragm bracing).
• Foundation plan with footing dimensions, uplift resistance details, and anchor specifications.
• Connection details—bolted, nailed, or plated—clearly called out with reference to code sections.
• Load calculations covering dead, live, wind, and snow loads for my site (Stevensville, MT).
• A concise material list that a supplier can quote without surprises.
• Deliverables in PDF for permit submission plus DWG/DXF files for my builder.
I’m comfortable reviewing 2–3 iterations, so include reasonable revisions in your proposal. Familiarity with common post-frame tools such as MBS, RISA, or similar software is welcome; AutoCAD or Revit for final drawings is preferred.
Let me know your turnaround time, the codes you typically design to, and whether you’re currently licensed in any U.S. states.
