Revit Add-in for Automatic Fire Alarm & IT Riser Generation
Scope:
The add-in should read all visible devices in the current active view:
1. For Fire Alarm: smoke detectors, heat detectors, control modules, monitor modules, etc.
For IT: data outlets, network switches, patch panels, etc.
2. It should automatically number the devices (if not already numbered) and connect them in sequence (1 2 3 4 …).
3. The connection can be represented as:
A Detail Line or Spline showing the logical loop between devices (not physical circuit).
Optionally, display panel / loop start and end symbols.
4. The tool should then generate a Drafting View called “Fire Alarm Riser” or “IT Riser”, where:
A vertical riser line is drawn.
All devices are shown as symbols aligned along this line according to their numbering.
(Optional) Text labels or abbreviations beside each symbol.
5. For the IT system, the same workflow applies — devices are read, numbered, and connected logically as one loop or daisy chain.
Functional Requirements:
Compatible with Revit 2021/2025.
Works with any project (category-based detection).
Supports manual refresh or update when the model changes.
No dependence on circuits; purely view-based detection.
Should include a simple UI (dock able panel or ribbon button) to choose:
System type (Fire Alarm / IT)
Auto-numbering method
Spacing and line style
