STL to Parametric STEP Conversion
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I have an STL scan of a male-female industrial assembly featuring circular, repetitive teeth. I need that mesh rebuilt as a fully parametric model so every diameter, pitch, and tooth profile can be edited later inside SolidWorks and output as a machining-ready STEP file.
Level of detail must be high; the parts will go straight to CNC, so tight tolerances and clean feature trees are essential. I do not want any design changes—just an accurate, one-to-one reconstruction of the existing geometry.
You are free to use the typical reverse-engineering toolkit (Geomagic Design X for feature extraction, SolidWorks for final parametrics, or similar), but the final deliverables have to open natively in SolidWorks 2022+ without feature import errors.
Deliverables
• Native, fully-defined SolidWorks part files (.SLDPRT) for both male and female components
• STEP AP214 files derived from those native parts
• A brief report outlining key reference dimensions and any assumed tolerances used to close gaps in the scan
Acceptance criteria
• Features are parametric (no dumb solids), logically named, and organised in an editable tree
• Critical mating faces and tooth geometry match the STL within ±0.05 mm (I will run deviation analysis)
• Files open with zero rebuild errors in SolidWorks
I’ll supply the STL, nominal dimensions, and any datum references as soon as we start. Let me know your lead-time and previous experience delivering high-detail reverse-engineering projects like this.
