Browser Extension Code Audit & Refactor (JavaScript/Chrome Extension)
Budget: ₹12,500 – ₹37,500 INR
I have a Chrome extension (unpacked, source files available) that is minified/obfuscated. I would like an experienced JavaScript developer with knowledge of browser extensions to:
De-obfuscate & analyze the existing codebase (background.js and dist/bundle.js).
Provide a human-readable version of the logic with clear variable names, comments, and explanations of what each major part of the extension does.
Audit the code for potential security, privacy, or performance issues (e.g., over-broad permissions, cookie handling, suspicious network calls).
Refactor/rebuild the extension into a clean, maintainable, and transparent version, preserving its original functionality.
Optionally, suggest improvements (e.g., limiting permissions, adding UI controls, making automation safer).
#Deliverables
A de-obfuscated & commented codebase (clean JS files).
A technical report explaining the extension’s behavior and risks (if any).
A refactored extension with the same functionality but cleaner, more maintainable code.
Guidance on how to load and use the safe version in Chrome/Edge.
Requirements
Strong JavaScript & Chrome extension development experience.
Familiarity with minified/obfuscated code and reverse engineering techniques.
Security-minded approach (must explain risks if found).
#Nice-to-have
Prior work in browser extension auditing or reverse-engineering projects.
Knowledge of IRCTC/web automation is a plus, but not required.
