Node Backend Engineer for Trading Platform Development

Job ID: 40560362

Budget: $25 – $50 USD

About the Role

We are building a next-generation trading and investment platform and are looking for a talented Backend Engineer to help develop high-performance, scalable, and secure server-side systems across our ecosystem.

This includes our order management system, market data aggregation layer, user portfolio services, and real-time notification infrastructure, with a strong focus on low-latency performance, data integrity, and robust system architecture.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Node.js (TypeScript/NestJS/Express).
- Build and optimize core trading infrastructure including order routing, execution engines, position management, and real-time market data processing.
- Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and QA teams to define APIs and deliver reliable, scalable features.
- Design and maintain secure RESTful and WebSocket APIs for frontend consumption and third-party integrations.
- Integrate with market data providers, brokerage APIs, and financial data feeds.
- Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and data consistency across distributed systems handling financial transactions.
- Contribute to backend architecture, database schema design, caching strategies, and code quality standards.
- Implement robust logging, monitoring, and alerting to ensure system health and rapid incident response.

Technical Requirements
- Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and modern backend frameworks (NestJS, Express, or Fastify).
- Experience building data-intensive, real-time systems (trading platforms, payment processing, or analytics pipelines).
- Solid understanding of database technologies (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or TimescaleDB) and query optimization.
- Experience with message queues and streaming platforms (RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Redis Streams) for handling high-throughput data.
- Strong understanding of API design (REST, WebSockets, gRPC) and API security (OAuth, JWT, API keys).
- Experience with caching strategies (Redis, Memcached) for low-latency responses.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Strong focus on writing testable, maintainable code with comprehensive unit and integration tests.

Project Scope
- Initial focus on the order execution engine, market data aggregation layer, and core user portfolio services.
- Expansion into full platform development, including risk management systems, reporting pipelines, and third-party integrations.
- Opportunity for long-term collaboration based on performance.
- Fully remote, flexible working hours.

Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who can go beyond implementation and contribute to building a fast, scalable, and resilient trading infrastructure for users in a complex financial data environment. If you thrive on performance challenges, care deeply about system reliability, and enjoy working with real-time financial data, we'd love to hear from you.
