Alfresco 5.2 Reporting Module Development
Budget: $1,700 – $2,000 USD
Alfresco 5.2 Reporting Module Development
Role: Freelance Developer (Remote)
Project Type: One-time project
Industry: Document Management / Enterprise Software
Location: Remote
Project Summary
We at EisenVault are running Alfresco Community Edition 5.2 as our document management system. We are seeking a freelance developer with deep Alfresco experience to design and implement a custom reporting module that enables clear visibility into user activity, document access, and system usage — with full filtering and CSV export capabilities.
The solution will provide stakeholders with detailed, secure, and exportable insights into user behaviour and repository performance.
Responsibilities
Analyze Alfresco 5.2 structure, audit subsystem, and REST/CMIS APIs for reporting data sources.
Design and develop robust reports under these categories:
User Access & Activity Reports
User login history (timestamp, username, login method, failed attempts)
User document interaction: uploaded, edited, downloaded, viewed, deleted
Site-level access summary: user roles per site, last accessed, frequency
Inactivity report: users with no activity over X days
Permissions and access logs (accessed what, when, how)
Permissions change history (who granted/revoked what)
Document & Workflow Reports
Document contributions and engagement metrics
Workflow initiation, participation, and completion statistics
Audit trails: full event logs (create/edit/delete/download)
Repository Usage Reports
Site-level storage usage and document volume
File types uploaded over time
Metadata usage frequency (by type/tag/category)
Dynamic Filters for Reports
Date range
Usernames or groups
Sites or site roles
Action type (view, download, edit, delete)
Document types or metadata tags
Workflow status or name
Inactivity thresholds (e.g., users inactive > 30 days)
Implement secure, role-based access to all reporting interfaces.
Deliver clear CSV export capability for all report views.
Provide documentation and test data for validation.
Technical Requirements
Must-Have Skills:
Alfresco Community Edition 5.2 (deep experience)
REST API, CMIS, Lucene/SOLR queries
Java or JavaScript backend development (for custom repo modules)
CSV export implementation
Alfresco content model and metadata handling
Alfresco Audit Subsystem configuration and parsing
Nice-to-Have:
Experience with:
Alflytics
JasperReports or Pentaho integration
Alfresco Share Dashlet/UI development
Familiarity with extracting and storing audit data to external DB
Deliverables
Fully functional, deployable reporting module (AMP, JAR, or Share Extension)
Sample CSV report outputs
Setup guide and technical documentation
End-user usage manual (filters, exports, access controls)
Validation and performance test reports
Success Criteria
Accurate and filterable reporting with real-time or near-real-time data
Clean and structured CSV exports
Secure access controls matching Alfresco roles
Seamless integration with existing Alfresco 5.2 instance
Optional UI components: dashboard or reporting page in Alfresco Share
Sustainable and maintainable codebase with future extensibility
Timeline: 4–6 weeks total, milestone-based:
Budget Estimate:
$1,700 – $2,000 USD, based on: Experience level, Scope (UI+backend) and Custom audit log usage and reporting complexity
How to Apply
If you’re interested, please share:
1. A few examples of your past work with Alfresco (especially anything related to reporting or audit logs)
2. Your estimated time to complete the project
3. Your expected budget
4. Let us know if you can also build a simple user interface for reports (in Alfresco Share)
No long proposals needed — just a quick intro and answers to the above will help us move fast!
