Groom is an early-stage startup based in Las Vegas, Nevada, developing a mobile platform to connect local residents with talented grooming professionals (barbers, hairstylists, estheticians, etc.). Our mission is to make looking and feeling your best convenient and accessible by building a seamless, user-friendly experience for both clients and providers in the Las Vegas area. We're a small, passionate team (currently a solo founder) with a big vision to revolutionize the local grooming scene.
**About the Internship:**
We're seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented VA to contribute to the foundational stages of our business. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual to gain hands-on experience in startup operations, market analysis, and early-stage business development – all while working remotely. You'll play a crucial role in helping us understand the Las Vegas market and prepare for our upcoming MVP launch.
**Responsibilities:**
* **In-Depth Market Research (Focus: Las Vegas):**
* Identify and catalog local Las Vegas grooming businesses (online presence, services, pricing, reviews).
* Analyze competitor websites and social media strategies in the Las Vegas market.
* Research Las Vegas demographic and grooming industry trends.
* Monitor relevant online communities and forums for insights.
* **Content & Communication Research:**
* Assist in identifying relevant keywords and search terms for the Las Vegas market.
* Research content formats and platforms popular with the Las Vegas target audience.
* Contribute to the development of preliminary social media and communication strategies.
* **Provider Outreach Support:**
* Compile targeted lists of potential grooming providers in key Las Vegas neighborhoods.
* Assist in drafting initial outreach communications (for founder review).
* Organize and track information gathered on potential providers.
* **User Persona & Journey Mapping:**
* Assist in developing detailed user personas for Las Vegas clients based on research.
* Contribute to mapping the current and ideal user journeys for grooming services in Las Vegas.
* **Competitive Feature Analysis:**
* Research and analyze features of existing service marketplace apps.
* Identify potential valuable features for Groom in the Las Vegas context.
* **General Operations Support:**
* Assist with various organizational and administrative tasks as needed.
* Potentially support light content creation tasks (research, drafting basic copy).
**Qualifications:**
* Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program (business, marketing, communications, research, or related fields preferred).
* Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to gather and synthesize information from various sources.
* Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in basic online research tools and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
* A genuine interest in startups and the local business landscape (ideally some familiarity with Las Vegas).
* Ability to commit to approximately 20 hours per week.
**Bonus Points:**
* Familiarity with the Las Vegas, NV, USA area.
* Experience with social media research or content creation.
* Basic understanding of SEO principles.
