Research assistant for PhD thesis (Part-time)

Budget: £10 – £20 GBP

I need a part-time research assistant to help me with my PhD research project. Lots of tasks from helping organise the literature, assisting with planning, with a core task being analysing PhD theses (Which will be provided) to create a PhD master plan (For example, a very long essay plan). No original academic writing required, however good copy editing and fast information processing are essential.

Minimum education requirement is a Masters degree (Merit or higher) with a completed dissertation (10 - 20k words) in qualitative research using grounded theory (Ideally semi-structured interview research). Applicants would need to have a Masters in Sociology or similar social science. PhD graduates welcome to apply.

Details
- The work will likely start with two to three days a week in the beginning, then one day a week (Occasionally split into two halves) for up to 6 months or more. Extra days in a week might be required.
- One month's notice will be given by both sides if either party wishes to terminate the agreement.
- Daily rate will be based on confidence to conduct the job, work experience and the factors below.
- Weekly meetings to take place in late afternoons GMT time on FaceTime.
-Strict privacy and confidentiality (You will need to sign a non-disclosure agreement).

Basic skill requirements
- Fast scanning of text, document searching and reading skills. You must be proficient at processing a lot of information quickly.
- Qualitative research project complete (Semi-structured interviews and Grounded theory)
- Good English writing and grammar skills
- Fast computer use (Web searching, program use, research sites plus fast typing + copy/paste skills)
- Good knowledge of Google Docs, Microsoft Word, journal article websites.
- Apple Mac computer required (Sorry, no Windows). If a candidate is ideal in every other way, a 13" Mac laptop can be provided, but must be returned.

Major advantages
- Experience with Ulysses writing program (Mac only)
- Masters or PhD degree in Sociology (With good knowledge of Bourdieu).
- Ability to reverse engineer PhD theses and create template.
- Speed in text searching and processing.
