Research Interview (Academic purposes) of your Experience as a Freelance Service Provider -- 2

Description: Hello, you are being asked to take part in a research study that involves your work experience as a freelancer or an independent contractor. To qualify,
1. You should be providing professional services to businesses and individuals in person or virtually.
2. You provide professional services on your own (not as part of an agency or a team or a company) in exchange for compensation from your customers.
3. You should be adult respondents over 18 years of age.
Professional Services include:
Marketing role examples: Sales, Customer service, Branding, Content Writing etc.
Non-marketing role examples: Information Technology, Data Science, Development, Accounting, Consulting etc.
The aim of this research study is to understand the freelancer's or independent contractor's experience providing professional/personal services. Specifically, we want to explore how your work situation as a freelancer is different from other forms of work choices – organizational employment or entrepreneur. How do you deal with these situations and its impact on work life?
The outcome will be to suggest improvements to the platforms for a richer freelancer experience.
Further, we want to shed light on how freelancers can negotiate their freelancing journey.
Your answers are very important to understand freelancing.
Compensation: $10
You will receive $10 for participating in this study (interviews). At the end of the interview, the payment will be processed through the labor platform (i.e., Freelancer.com).
Procedure: In this research study interview, you will not have any more risks than you would in a normal day of life. Your answers will be kept CONFIDENTIAL and used for ACADEMIC PURPOSES ONLY. Data will be stored on password-and-firewall protected computer of the research team.
You will NOT be personally identified in the analysis. However, we will collect some information from your public profile (e.g., ratings, earning score, number of jobs, % of successfully completed jobs, hourly rate etc.) to understand the difference in freelance experience. We will record the interview using CISCO Webex provided by Georgia State University or Zoom provided by University of Stavanger. Video recording is optional based on your consent.
Interview time: Approximately 30-40 minutes. The actual time may vary, depending on your circumstances.
Location: Zoom or Webex calls will be placed either from the researchers’ home or office. The transcripts of the conversation will be analyzed for patterns as per standard interview research procedure.
Frequency: One time
Consent: We will seek your consent electronically at the interview process. It will be regarding the following:
• Consent to participate
• Consent to record the interview session – audio/video (optional)
• Consent to record non-personal information from your public profile.
Only if you consent verbally to all the above, we will proceed with the interview. Kindly note you will be compensated upon completion of the entire interview.
