Research Assistant Needed to Find Off-Market Businesses (Targeting Baby Boomer Owners)
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Virtual Assistant / Researcher Needed – Help Me Find Off-Market Businesses (Retiring Owners)
Description:
I’m an entrepreneur actively looking to acquire an off-market, service-based business from a retiring baby boomer. I’m searching for a highly detailed and reliable research assistant or virtual assistant to help me identify established, privately-owned businesses where the owner may be looking to step away.
Your job is to do the digging — I’ll handle the contact and negotiations.
Your Role:
Find small, service-based businesses that are 10+ years old
Use Google, Yelp, LinkedIn, Secretary of State filings, and other creative tools
Gather and organize owner info, contact details, business age, website, etc.
Enter leads into a clean Google Sheet (template provided)
Update progress weekly and deliver qualified leads consistently
My Acquisition Criteria:
Industries: Roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pest control, tree removal, fencing, pressure washing, junk removal, or similar “boring” blue-collar businesses
NOT Interested In: Restaurants, retail, dry cleaners, e-commerce
Ownership: Owner-operated or family-owned businesses
Years in Business: Preferably 10–30+ years
Location: Florida (Miami + surrounding areas)
Georgia (Atlanta metro + surrounding areas)
Texas (Houston or Dallas areas)
Team Size: Small teams (1–20 employees)
What You’ll Track in the Google Sheet:
Business Name
Owner Name
Phone Number
Email Address (if available)
Website
Years in Business
Industry
City/State
Source (Google, Yelp, Secretary of State, etc.)
Notes (website outdated, owner appears older, etc.)
Ideal Candidate:
Experienced in lead generation, research, or sourcing small business data
Able to work independently and find creative ways to dig up info
Can cross-check LinkedIn and public records to estimate owner age or business age
Understands how to spot off-market opportunities
Speaks fluent English and is reliable with weekly deliverables
Bonus if you have:
Experience using tools like Apollo, Hunter, ZoomInfo, or scraping tools for emails.
Pay:
Open to hourly or flat rate per 50–100 leads. Long-term opportunity if we work well together.
