This research is for a new food brand which is being created for the Japanese market. The researcher will be interviewing ordinary people, consumers of the food type, to explore their wants, needs, attitudes, beliefs and behaviours, and their reactions to new brand concepts.
Participants of the market interview/survey will be provided. May require the researcher to identify more participants that fit the market profile.
Researcher/moderator is required to possess strong Japanese & English language proficiency, both written and verbal. Ability to translate from Japanese to English and vice versa is a plus.
These research sessions will not be conducted in person, face to face. They will all be conducted via video (Zoom or other platform), so they are COVID safe. The researcher/moderator needs to be comfortable with conducting online focus groups / group discussions with 4 or 5 participants in each, and each participant joining the call from their own homes. Training & guidance will be provided before the actual sessions take place.
All the research materials – stimulus, interview guides, instructions – will be supplied by client. The interview guides (script) for each type of research will be written in English, a briefing session with the moderator, in English and via video call, before they translate the discussion guides into Japanese.
The researcher/ moderator will need to coordinate with participants for the 121 depth interviews, to schedule their session, to respond to any changes sought be the participant (e.g., a rescheduling request). The video interview links, the means to record and a community platform will be supplied by the client. Treatment and storage of interview recordings are fully compliant with data privacy law.
SUMMARY
A dedicated freelance researcher/moderator for the following elements of the project, being able to:
• conduct 121 depth interviews, each interview lasting 1 or 2 hours (final specification to be confirmed)
• moderate 4 co-creative focus groups (each synchronous session lasting up to 3 hours); the session will explore ideas and the appeal of brand concepts relating to a food type.
