Construct Medical is a medical design company operating in Melbourne Australia. We have completed a project involving a device that measures the amount of traction force and time that is applied during hip arthroscopy. The inventors of this device believe that there is likely to be significant litigation in the USA as a result of patient injury during hip arthroscopy. Furthermore, we believe that some of this injury would relate to the amount of force applied to the leg during the procedure and also the amount of time the force was applied.
We are looking for a researcher familiar with US medicolegal data bases who is capable of searching for data that reveals the frequency and cost associated with such litigation.
We are not sure if this data would be held in a national data base or whether it would be necessary to search on a state-by-state basis, and we would look for guidance in regard to this issue. It would seem appropriate that the search parameters would be Hip arthroscopy , injury, traction force and traction time.
The last two key-terms would help differentiate the data from injury from infection or surgical error where traction was not a factor.
We seek to be able to provide an overview of the size of this issue in terms of number of cases and total cost to the profession and also the community.
