Fieldwork assistant for dendrochronological sampling -- 2
Budget: €30 – €250 EUR
We are seeking a motivated fieldwork assistant for a 10-day dendrochronological sampling campaign in Swedish Lapland, taking place at the beginning of July.
The role involves collecting tree-ring samples in remote environments as part of an ongoing research project. You will work closely with a small team and contribute actively to shared field tasks.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, solution-oriented, and comfortable working outdoors. A positive attitude toward teamwork, travel, and field-based research is essential.
The position requires good physical fitness. Field days may last 10 hours or more and include walking 5–10 km per day in rocky terrain while carrying a chainsaw. Work will take place in varying weather conditions.
Accommodation will be provided in a hostel, with access to laundry facilities, showers, and a sauna. Food is included; however, all team members are expected to participate in basic daily tasks such as cooking and washing dishes.
Requirements:
- Valid category B driving license and ability to drive safely
- Experience with chainsaw use; a valid chainsaw license (or equivalent certification) is required-
- Previous experience in collecting dendrochronological samples
- Good physical condition and experience with outdoor work
- Ability to stay and work away from home for the duration of the field period
- Proficiency in English
- Friendly attitude and a positive, team-oriented mindset.
