Content Sourcing and Curation for Offline Early Childhood Development (ECD) Learning Solution

Job ID: 39640543

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

Overview:
OURS is a social enterprise that provides an offline learning platform for Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers and parents in underserved communities. We are looking for a freelancer or consultant to help us source, categorize, and download high-quality free content from reputable providers that can be legally reused and preloaded onto our offline devices.

Task Description
We need your help with:

1. Sourcing Free ECD Content

Identify online repositories, websites, or organizations offering free and legally reusable ECD content (Creative Commons, public domain, etc.)

Prioritize content that is:
Relevant to the South African context (English focus, but also isiZulu, isiXhosa, Afrikaans, etc.)
Suitable for various early childhood age groups (0–6 years)
Includes teacher/practitioner training materials
Available in multiple formats (PDFs, MP4s, MP3s, eBooks, etc.)

For each content source, log the following in a Google Sheet:
Name of source
URL
Terms of use / license type (e.g., CC-BY, CC-BY-NC, public domain)
Whether content is directly downloadable or requires additional steps

2. Downloading and Categorizing Content

Once content sources are approved:
Download relevant files from each source
Upload all content to a shared Google Drive folder, organizing by category
For each file, add the following information to a Google Sheet:
Title
Age group(s) or audience (e.g., "2–5 years", "All ages", "Teacher Training")
File type (PDF, MP4, MP3, EPUB, etc.)
Theme (e.g., literacy, numeracy, emotional development, nutrition, etc.)
Length (short: under 5 minutes, medium: 5–15 minutes, long: 15–30 minutes or more)
Credits / source attribution

Goals

Our goal is to build a diverse and well-organized library of high-quality offline learning materials, including:
A variety of content formats: videos, audios, PDFs, and eBooks
A mix of short (<5 mins), medium (5–15 mins), and long-form (15–30+ mins) content
Content that can be used across different age groups and contexts
Materials to support both child learning and practitioner training

We’re looking for breadth and quality, not just quantity—content should be engaging, culturally relevant, and easily accessible offline.

Timeline
We aim to complete this project within 7 to 10 days from the start date.

Requirements

Strong research and organizational skills
Understanding of Creative Commons and open licensing
Experience working with Google Drive and Google Sheets
Ability to work independently and communicate progress clearly

Bonus: familiarity with educational content and the ECD sector
